Although I’ve already read the series below, I’m sharing them because they are really that good!
The Little Liar by Mitch Albom, a thought-provoking novel set during the Holocaust, chronicling the intertwined lives and stories of four individuals with Truth as the narrator.
The AJ Docker Series of 5 books by Gary Gerlacher. Imagine Harry Bosch meets medical nonfiction. Easy to read, intriguing, and can be read in any order. Thank me later.
I know it’s not summer yet but I’ve been loving ice cream lately. When is ice cream not good? Fun fact: most places sell more ice cream and frozen treats when it’s cold outside.
Why does Blue Bell do this to me? Most assuredly, it is not keto. Oh, but it’s so goooooood!
Pretty sure I previously posted this same photo, but Rebel ice cream is really tasty!
Place a few of the Lindt truffles in the fridge and you will be amazed. Cold. Delicious. I should stop.

What is your favorite summer treat?
Have you tried Blue Bell’s bride’s cake or groom’s cake?
Name a truffle flavor I must sample.

Recently, the radio host was accepting opinions of what listeners considered comfort food. One said it was food you eat when ill. Another disagreed because it should be more clear why they need comfort. For example, you’ve gone through a traumatic breakup…you wouldn’t give someone soup (such as when ill). Maybe you’d give them alcohol instead. I made that part up myself. No radio listener said this. And when there’s been a death in the family, people bring comfort food, like macaroni and cheese, and fried chicken. Though I don’t understand providing a grieving family the types of food that…undoubtedly…(may have) contributed to their demise.
My mom would make us children comfort food aptly titled “hot jello”. Basically, it’s the same steps to making jello prior to refrigerating it. It’s warm, sweet, and comforting. That’s my comfort food when sick.
Obviously we can’t have a discussion about comfort food without mentioning ice cream, specifically Blue Bell. This article ranks the top ten flavors with an original play on the how many forks idea (the better an item, the more forks).
(Spoiler) Unsurprisingly, Cookie Two Step was the winner. I can say unsurprisingly because I have practically inhaled an entire half gallon of this flavor. Despite it making me very ill, I believe it was entirely worth it. Take all my sporks! Although I do love buttered pecans and pistachio, I was a little surprised at the prevalence of peppermint flavors which made the list. Perhaps they have a following I’m unaware of.
And, finally, a quick recap of the most recent game night where my favorite game – Spoons – was the winner-takes-all finale. Yours truly was the winner amongst approx 40 competitive women. The photo below is an indicator of Part’s competitiveness, although she would tell you she is not.
Eating my way through San Diego, the land of beautiful people, fast drivers, and an overwhelming air of busy.
Allow me to present the evidence. On the left is a huge ice cream cone, filled with the loveliest I may have ever tasted. The establishment is called An’s Dry Cleaning. I also visited her other location, An’s Hatmakers. Unassumingly incredible.
Relatedly, on the right is the return of Blue Bell’s winter flavor, peppermint bark. I must try it.
Exhibit C is above. That beautiful drink is a salted caramel latte from Breakfast Republic. I also ordered one to go because I needed – needed! – another. There’s a food photo to go with this, but who really cares. The coffee was impeccable.
Also not pictured are the asada tacos from El Gordon’s, spicy chicken sandwiches from the Liberty Public Market, an unbelievable pastrami sandwich from Chris’s Liquor and Deli, a mouthwatering tri tip sandwich from Jensen’s, and, one of my favorites, the sushi at Sushi Deli. Ask me about those Shishito Peppers. Admittedly, I am a cheat. Long story.
Exhibit D is a rich, luxurious peanut butter beer, think Guinness meets peanut butter whiskey, found at Belching Beaver Brewery. It was great, even if it was so heavy. I tried a few others elsewhere, but this was definitely my favorite.
…Cause you know I’d walk a thousand miles if I could just see you.

Are you aware of any catchy establishments with misleading names?
Do football players wear underroos? I had a mosquito bite on my butt and nearly caused a scene. I can’t imagine having to dig my underroos out of my ass during a 3 hr football game.

Blue Bell, why do you tempt me so? Chocolate brownie truffle sounds like heaven on earth. How much cholesterol is in it? Does it have good fats?
Finally, I suppose this isn’t a question at all, more of an observation. Let me start with my level of dumbness. It’s high. Possibly off the charts. I sort of (absolutely did) move away from strength training in favor of running. This happens regularly, where I forgo balance and hyper focus on one thing. Totally normal.
The more I ran, the more my body hurt in more places than just my feet. My shoulders, my biceps, my knees. You get the idea. So when I got tired of hurting and switched my focus back to strength training, I wasn’t motivated because I thought I had injured myself doing something else, probably at work.
All this to say it was mostly because I wasn’t strength training that everything was hurting. I’ve been back to regular training for several weeks now and my shoulders, triceps, etc feel a thousand times better, nearly zero pain. I didn’t need a break! I needed to focus on making these areas stronger.
Late to the party, but always on my way there.

Do they…wear underroos?

I’m purchasing this headwear for use at an upcoming graduation. When I found out an ex-husband and a few old boyfriends would be in attendance, incognito is now the theme.

New office furniture arrived. I’m so thankful for Parts. She loves to put stuff together. Me? Well, let’s just say it’s a disaster.
I love ice cream. Not surprisingly. And I still need to try this flavor!
I’ve waited forever for football! And since I have a little time to watch it – don’t call me, I’ll call you, ummm, never.

What should I wear for further incognito-ness? All black? Black with red heels is my standard.
You know how I know running really does quiet the circus inside my brain? Because I was unexpectedly involved in a very serious discussion immediately post-run and I could barely formulate words. Literally, mostly silence on my part. The remainder of what exited my mouth was weird utterances. It was awkward. I know I sounded like a bumbling whackadoo but I was floating in the clouds on a runner’s high and right then was not the time to have an impromptu discussion about lifesaving devices. Although it may have sounded like I required one.
A new ice cream flavor. Help!
Blue Bell Cookies ‘n Cream Cheesecake
During my recent grocery run, the store only had the newest flavor in 1/2 gallon form. For sure, if the pint had been available, I would have snatched it up. Much to my own detriment. Small favors. Vacation is coming up quick so I’ll save my indulgences for then. One Landshark. One pint of ice cream.
Word of the day: bespoke. Bespoke is a British term typically reserved for high fashion, but is used lately to mean customized. Example: He wore a bespoke suit. Or, a bespoke framework explains blah blah blah. The more you know.
Finally, I found it fascinating research shows how one of the factors of doctoral achievement are behavioral and psychological characteristics (personality, motivation). Maybe one day I can study this more.

Introducing Blue Bell Creameries, headquartered in beautiful Brenham, TX. Since I was a very young girl, I’ve always wanted to visit the place where my favorite ice cream is made. It really is a lovely community with a proper downtown, a few coffee options (Mescalito was fantastic!), and some amazing BBQ!
The tour of the ice cream facility ends with $1 scoops of Blue Bell. Life is so good. As we visited first thing in the day, ice cream was more of a breakfast option, which I think is perfect! Blue Bell is actually the name of a flower, which the founders of Blue Bell Ice Cream chose to name their business after.

We toured banks-turned-boutiques, museums, and even made a quick stop in Waco, TX, to check out the much loved Magnolia Market and Silos.
As the weekend capped off the return from VA and seeing my best friend, it was a whirlwind of sights and sounds. But the ice cream made it worth it.
Cinnamon brings heaven to the thoughts, for that sweet spice somehow is part of my soul. Perhaps through some good memory that sits in my dreaming brain, a memory without words that sparks joy from its scent. – Angela Abraham, @daisydescriptionari, March 18, 2021
For some time, I thought my favorite coffee was defunct because I couldn’t find it at any of the usual grocery stores. I may have panicked a little. So when I saw the Starbucks Brown Sugar Cinnamon, I was somewhat relieved that maybe I had found an alternative. It’s good albeit slightly more expensive than what I was purchasing. However, it appears to just have been a supply chain issue because I can order my favorite from Amazon, and surely it will return to store shelves eventually. Surely.
Blue Bell has always been one of my favorite ice cream brands. Yes, I know I wrote in a previous post that Braums was my favorite; however, I only rank it slightly above Blue Bell due to the extra creamy texture. Blue Bell is like my childhood sweetheart – never forgotten, classic, a part of my DNA. I’m not sure who created the Cinnamon Twist flavor, but I want to kiss them while simultaneously beating them with a big stick. It’s somewhere between a churro and the ooey gooey incredible middle of a cinnamon roll. I ate so much it made me very sick yet (as many of you know, I balance the non-keto world in terms of “is it worth the headache and migraine symptoms”) it was decidedly, unequivocally, do it all over again WORTH IT. It was so worth it that I have managed to turn most conversations regarding benign things into a discussion about how amazing it is. Trust me, I make it really weird.
Now, I shall return to work or writing papers or whatever I’m supposed to be doing whilst daydreaming about coffee and ice cream. Affogato, anyone?
