Noise, Joyful or Otherwise

It would be so easy to say forget it when the plan doesn’t go…como se dice?…how it was planned. I succumbed to the pressures of hitting my step goal every day of the new year. Do more! So on a particularly ugly day, when the PMS was raging, and the memo to leave me alone wasn’t received, I didn’t make it. I could have. I could have made more time, made a better effort, not let my calendar dictate my day. Blah blah blah. But I didn’t. I let it slip. Step goal: not met.

The next day, I increased my resolve and jumped right back in. In a month, or a year, I won’t remember the reason I had to start over. I will notice how I hit the goal the very next day.

I also signed up for another drum workshop, my second. Christmas was particularly kind, with the inclusion of a new drum set! The Bible speaks of a joyful noise. I took the liberty of focusing singularly on the noise part. A few more months of lessons and I will begin my traveling tour. I jest. Or do I??!

Noise maker!

Other completed plans – my 3rd or 4th cycle of Big 5. Five benchmark exercises: the standard chest press, squat, deadlift, row, and overhead press. Since October, I’ve increased my 1-rep max, significantly by my own standards. Don’t get too excited, I am nowhere near any kind of competitive or award winning shape. However, the improvement to my running is immeasurable!

Joyful noise is really the sound of footsteps on the pavement, in 40°.

Outtakes, episode 3

Admittedly, there’s been a few previous episodes I have not reported on but, rest assured, no news is good news.

Which leads me to this post.

It was a mess. My largest group yet (12 victims… I mean children). The video lineup got jumbled; therefore, we missed two videos. Ever the ‘wing it’ type of leader, I asked the questions sans video context and then we played games for 20 minutes. Boy were they excited.

Then, there were drum lessons. Day before. Details. I don’t think we’ve been following any type of script because suddenly the instructor was asking if we were ready to play a song. Pause. A song?!? I have yet to master a 16-note!

Side note. I wish 16-note was a euphemism for money. Side side note. Still no paycheck. Sigh.

I played a song. Have you ever played Rock Band? If so, remember when you miss the note, then it “dinks” you? Let’s just say there were more dinks than harmonized notes.

Working with kids is easier.

Seems Odd

Musk is upset with AI, says it’s wrong for it to be so inconsiderate of safety requirements. From the guy who created self-driving vehicles. That’s rich. Odd.

For two consecutive weekends, I’ve taken a 2-hr nap. The weight of tiredness has been exceptionally heavy. This isn’t normal for me. Odd.

It’s that time of year again. Where the weather cools off and you no longer sweat from thinking about going outside. Because people really do sweat before going outside in the summer in Texas. Odd.

Drums!

And, finally, the update you have all been waiting for. My drum lessons! I told you, right? Maybe not. I signed up for drum lessons. And I’m well on my way to being the greatest drummer of all time. Jokes. But lesson one went well…now all I hear is oneandtwoandthreeandfour. Then, oneehhanduhtwoehhanduhthreeehhanduhfour…you get the idea. It was fun! I thought I would have to learn to read music. Wrongly odd.
